The Big Island -- 2013

Kona, Hawaii stole our hearts last year and when my sister decided to vacation on the Big Island, we had to join.  We had the whole family (almost) --- The Brown Crew, the Villanueva Crew, my mom and brother.

This year was different from last.  There were more people on the island, which was odd to me because last year we were there in September and this year was October.  It was hotter this year, but the water was colder.  Some of the locals were saying it was a hotter year all round this year.

The trip can be best summed up with a whole lot of pictures.

SCENERY!!

I missed the spectacular sunsets with my good camera (only captured them with my phone)  Regardless the beauty and diversity of the Big Island has its constant allure.

Well Hello Mr. Turtle...They were all over in the water this trip.

Lava Tunnel...and yes we hiked in it.

It appears that over time the hardened lava just collapses revealing the lava tunnels below.  Cool and scary all at the same time.

crack in lava rock/field

Green Sea Turtle showing poking his head up at Black Sands Beach

Hello Mrs. Crab.

Can you see Mr. Green Sea Turtles tongue feeding....so cool.

I stood in an uncomfortable position for a long time taking pictures of this guy.

Not sure if this is the same turtle.  Sleeping!!

Goodbye Sun!

Locals out riding the waves.  They were breaking super hard, which means BooLa were restricted to the beach.

Look at how high it was breaking...crazy
Mountain or cloud ??

Clear, clear water...the yellow and black specs are the fish riding in the waves.

 Cousins!!

Pure Sweetness with Sweet Baby Cousin (aka Crazy Baby)

Sweetness overload.. Crazy Baby stood up and wrapped her arm around Boo...

Nose wipe...haha
Three of the sweetest kids you will ever meet.

This little girl LOVES the water...no fear..

Kissy Kissy Sweet Girls.

Tidal Pools

BooLa spent hours and hours going from tidal pool to tidal pool and searching for living and nonliving things in them.

Surf and Sand

Kona is a great location for a family vacation.  There is so much to do on a the Big Island, yet it is so relaxing.

Tomorrow....one more blog on Hawaii....
